Covid-19: Mumbai civic body receives 99,000 doses of Covishield | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday stated it obtained 99,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine.
As per the BMC, the doses shall be distributed to civic and government-run vaccination centres.
Vaccine scarcity in Mumbai led to the momentary halting of vaccination throughout 75 centres within the metropolis on Friday.
This comes amid allegations by chief ministers throughout the nation that there are solely sufficient vaccines within the state for the subsequent few days.
Mumbai is at present underneath a weekend lockdown until 7am on Monday in an effort to curb the unfold of the Covid-19 an infection.
The metropolis reported 9,200 Covid-19 instances and 35 deaths on Friday. There are at present 90,333 lively instances within the metropolis.
Earlier, Maharashtra cupboard minister Aslam Shaikh had stated that state obtained the least variety of vaccines and a majority of vaccination centres had been dealing with closure as a result of scarcity of doses.
“Centre is doing politics. Earlier more vaccinations centres were opened and we were told to vaccinate more and more people but later they stopped giving us the vaccines. Maharashtra has received the least number of vaccine doses. Today, a majority of vaccination centres across the state have been shut due to shortage of vaccine,” he informed reporters.
Earlier within the day, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray referred to as an all-party assembly by way of video convention to evaluation the present scenario within the state.
Maharashtra on Friday recorded 58,993 new Covid-19 instances, 45,391 recoveries, and 301 deaths.
