Three individuals allegedly cheated an 18-year-old and his household of Rs 30 lakh on the pretext of giving him a spot within the IPL group Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The household has lodged a grievance with the Azad Maidan police. According to the police, the boy’s father is a vice- president with a microfinance firm, and the household lives in Mulund.
The boy practises with an area academy there.
Recently the boy had joined Karanataka Sports Club in Fort and used to go there for follow twice every week.
“He met one Pushkar Tiwari who told him that he had played for Himachal Pradesh as a baller in the state’s cricket team. He advised the boy not to try for Maharashtra team as he will have to face a cut-throat competition. He advised the boy to play from other states to avoid competition,” an officer from Azad Maidan police station stated.
The boy and Tiwari exchanged their cellphone numbers. This was someday in March. Later sooner or later Tiwari known as the boy and informed him that he knew somebody who owned a sports activities administration firm and that group KKR required a baller instantly.
“On Tiwari’s suggestion, the boy’s father got in touch with the owner of the sports management team over phone who told him that in the developing squad of the team there was a vacancy for which the family will have to pay him Rs 30 lakh,” stated one other police officer.
The relations contemplating the boy’s future in cricket mentioned the matter amongst themselves and determined to pay the quantity. They paid the proprietor of the sports activities firm Rs 30 lakh in two installments.
The proprietor of the sports activities firm informed them that IPL begins in April and that’s when a Rs 10-lakh settlement will probably be made between the boy and the group KKR. According to grievance, after receiving the cash, the proprietor of the sports activities administration firm began avoiding his calls. The household bought suspicious and shortly realized that they’d been cheated. The boy’s household then registered a case in opposition to the sports activities administration firm’s proprietor and Tiwari.
The cops have registered a case for dishonest and are investigating.
